If the charger was powered youd hope most designers would place the cell in a neutral mode. Rechargable batteries can only be charged so many times before it dies. No it is not OK to leave power tool batteries on the charger after the charge is complete.
For example recharge Duracell batteries together in one batch and Energizer batteries in another.
