Should You Add Water To A Car Battery. Using anything other then distilled water will cause permanent failure of your battery. If this is the case and one or more of the cells is low you should add distilled water.
Check the water level and state of charge every 45-60 days. Add water to the battery to bring the level to just below the bottom of the cell inspection hole. During normal operation batteries will only consume water and not sulfuric acid.
If you check the battery monthly is a good idea and add water up to the full ring you should be OK.
Its important to note that battery owners should never add sulfuric acid to their battery. If needed add distilled water and charge.
